Our Approach to Supporting Students at Portland School
All students who attend Portland School have Education, Health & Care plans. All students have pronounced difficulties with Social, Emotional and Mental Health.
As such, it's important that we create a school that embodies the unique needs of our young people.
We recognise that for the majority of our young people, mainstream education did not equate to educational success and a different approach is needed.
At Portland School we have developed an environment, a curriculum and an approach to challenging behaviour that is sensitive to the needs of young people and the difficulties that they have experienced previous.
Our approach aims to provide young people with an education that is relevant to their need and provides the skills and knowledge to make successful transitions into the next stage of their lives.
